This 1961 Fiat 1200 Cabriolet is one of only 11,000 ever built by the Italian manufacturer and one of only a handful known to exist in the United States. Originally Rosso Red over Black Leather, this 1200 Cabriolet is in need of a full restoration and is sold as a project car in non-running condition.
The exterior of the vehicle is poor. Rust is apparent in both rockers and lower panels and will need to be addressed. The current color is non-original and lacks luster and shine.
The interior is in poor condition. There are a number of missing trim pieces and interior bits that will need to be sourced and replaced in order to perform a full restoration. Wooden floors are currently found in the vehicle. The cloth top is in similarly poor condition with a number of tears and will need to be reupholstered but does close and open easily.
The engine is incomplete and could not be turned by hand. The powertrain will most likely need a full rebuild if it can be salvaged. A popular modification, however, is to replace this powerplant with a more modern 2000cc engine from a 124 Spider.
Given the rarity of this Fiat 1200 Cabriolet and increasing valuation, a full restoration is not out of the question for a capable and patient owner. Please contact us if you have any questions.
